𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐕𝐈𝐀 𝐂𝐑𝐎𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐃 𝐇𝐄𝐑 arms as she stared down at the plans in front of her, Matt and Colleen. Her focus never strayed from the papers as Matt spoke. "From what we could tell, the architect's plan was to place explosives in the building's structural center."
Olivia trailed a finger over one of the plans. "Well, I'd say that the building can't stand without these support beams, we take them out, the building will come down."
"Yeah, you're right." Colleen hummed before raising her voice so that the rest of the group could hear. "Once we find these, we plant the C-4."
Olivia furrowed her brows as Luke came up to her side, he seemed apprehensive. "There's no remote detonator."
Brilliant. The wolf thought, they would have to set a timer and make sure they grabbed Danny and hauled ass before it went off, not exactly the best. She could see the apprehension on the other's faces, understandable, after all, none of them wanted to be blown up.
"What's that mean?" Claire questioned, confusion evident on her face.
Olivia sighed as she ran a hand down her face. "It means, it's a time bomb. Once we set it, we'll only have a few minutes to do what we have to do."
"You're saying that once someone activates the charge That's it?"
"Exactly."
"Fantastic," Jessica muttered sarcastically as she sent a glare towards the bomb as if trying to scare It into working how they wanted it to. To no avail, obviously.
Matt chewed on his bottom lip for a moment, going over the words the wolf had spoken... He wondered how in the hell she knew what would happen, it wasn't exactly basic knowledge. He then lifted his head slightly as he addressed the two newest members of their little clique; Colleen and Claire. "You two put 'em in place. Once we're out of the hole, hit the charge, we get out of there."
Olivia could see where the devil was coming from, keeping the two of them to ready the bomb at the perfect time. On the other hand, though, they kinda needed all hands on deck. They hadn't exactly won the fight that occurred earlier, who knows how much tougher the one to even get close to Danny will be.
Colleen seemed to be on the same wavelength as the wolf. Her face scrunched up in disbelief and her tone was very much laced with bitterness. "Wait, what? No, I am going down with you. Last time I stayed behind, Danny got drugged and kidnapped."
Olivia's head fell slightly under the guilt she carried for allowing the boy to be taken from them. Matt noticed immediately, his head moving just an inch to face her direction.
Jessica scoffed, clearly disagreeing with the katana-wielding woman, almost wishing it were her being asked to stay behind, but if Liv and Luke were going, so was she. "What part of this shitstorm sounds like staying behind?"
"This 'Shitstorm' is my life."
"Colleen." Claire sighed as she gestured to the group. "The four of them have certain abilities."
"I can fight."
"Exactly. I'm saying, as your friend, if I'm going to do this, I need your help a lot more than they do."
Colleen exhaled heavily, thinking it over for a moment before turning to the group of super-humans. "Promise me you won't fail him again."
Immediately, Colleen could see the guilt and determination flood into Olivia's eyes. Her voice hardened and she spoke before any of the others had a chance. "We will get him back. I promise you that."
A blanket of silence settled over them, each member of the group slowly moved their stares to the Hale, each of them thought not being able to listen to her heart, just knew that it was as steady as a surgeon's hand. Matt, however, could hear the women's heart. The pitter-patter of a promise echoing inside her ribcage.
Colleen's shoulders relaxed as a small breath left her lips, allowing them to curl up into a small yet trusting smile.
Before any further words could be uttered, the ever-annoying and as of late, ever-present glare of the NYPD's blue and red lights of justice glared into the room, illuminating it and washing the group's faces in their color. The penetrating sound of sirens grated at the inside of Olivia's skull.
Without waiting, she quickly followed after Matt, wanting to rid her brain of the annoying tune of the NYPD. "Let's go!" She called out to the others.
Jessica and Luke hastily trailed after the pair. There was a small amount of distance between Olivia and Matt, and Jessica and Luke. Matt ran his tongue across his teeth, debating whether to speak or not, with a small exhale out of his lips Olivia turned to him.
"Danny wasn't your fault, you know." His voice was quiet and softer than she'd ever heard it, her attention immediately latching onto the man in the ridiculous costume that was annoyingly growing on her. "We were all there Olivia, it's not just on you."
She sniffed and swallowed harshly, her voice escaping her with a crack. "I- I know. I just..."
"What?" His voice wasn't demanding, it was still soft, gently coaxing her to answer.
"I- I can't fail another kid, Matt. I just can't"
⋆⋆⋆
Olivia had shut the conversation down, walking a few paces ahead of the man. She knew, deep down she knew that Danny being captured wasn't her fault, after all, how was she supposed to know that they had wolfsbane? The devil was right; they had all been there, but that didn't quash the river of guilt that flooded through her every time she thought back.
The poor kid had to sit and watch the people that promised to protect him get their asses handed to them, he probably didn't actually know whether Olivia was alive, after all, she did have a sword go through her stomach.
She shook her head, trying her best to clear her thoughts, though was that ever really possible? Rather than dwelling even more on the fact that they had failed Danny, she took a breath and rose her head as she replaced the guilt with determination.
"Well, you two were right," Jessica spoke as she glanced around the narrow corridor they were walking through, her pace quickening just slightly so she could bypass the devil and walk beside the wolf. "This place is completely empty."
Olivia simply hummed as she listened to the noises beneath them, sounds only she and the blind ninja could hear. Matt quickly caught up to the two and reached out a gentle hand to Olivia's arm to carefully bypass them, Olivia's eyes darting to the area he had touched before trailing her eyes after him. "Got a lot of activity under the building now."
Matt slowly came to a stop in front of one of the walls, the noises were different, closer and echoing just behind the wall. He swiftly removed the glove donning his hand and laid it flat out against the wall, feeling the vibrations reverberate through the material.
Olivia watched closely as the man slowly moved his bare hand along the wall, his fingers twitched with every sound, reminding Olivia that she had absolutely no idea just how strong his senses were. After a moment, he paused, his head twitching to the side as he knocked his knuckles against the wall. "Here, I need you to... open this."
"Open what?" Luke questioned.
Olivia moved closer to the wall and knocked her own knuckles against what seemed to be a solid wall. However, when she moved her hand further away, the sound that echoed off her knock was different, fuller. "It's a door," Olivia spoke, her head turning to catch Matt's nod.
Luke's brows scrunched up but he followed Matt's directions nonetheless. With a grunt and immense force, the man slammed his fist into the wall. The wall groaned underneath his hand and bent inwards.
Olivia grabbed one side of the door that had caved in and hauled it back whilst Luke took the other door. With a small huff the wolf managed to use her strength to pull the door off the wall and gently place it on the ground whilst Luke bent his side all the way back, revealing the hidden room.
Luke took the first step inside, Olivia slowly following after him, intrigue nipping at her heels and what was just a pace ahead of her made her recoil slightly, a gigantic hole going god knows how far down.
The wolf's eyebrows furrowed as she stared into the dark abyss; knowing that she would have the ultimate pleasure of going down. Though she tried her best, her hearing wasn't strong enough to hear what was at the bottom which didn't exactly make her uneasiness lessen. "I'm not sure how far down it goes. Matt?" She questioned, hoping that perhaps his senses were stronger.
The Devil shook his head lightly after taking a moment to hone into the vibrations and noises he could feel and hear. "I can't tell."
"The more I think about it, the less I like our odds," Luke muttered, unable to pull his eyes away from the crater. Olivia silently nodded, she hadn't exactly liked their odds to begin with, and now this?
Matt sighed lightly from beside the wolf as he strapped on his previously discarded glove. "Yeah, well, do like me. Don't think about it."
"If that's your advice..." Olivia began as she glanced at his face, or what she could actually see of it anyway. "I'm never hiring you as my lawyer."
The man chuckled, Jessica and Luke joining in lightly as they shook their heads at her words, though to be honest, they agreed with her.
"I'm serious." She stated, though her light tone betrayed her. "You know, had I of known this was gonna happen, I think I might have stayed in Beacon Hills."
The devil breathed a laugh, his lips curling lightly before falling back into a line as he spoke his words earnestly. "For whatever it's worth, I'm glad you're here."
Olivia shared a quick look with Jessica whose brows were almost touching her hairline and a smug smile slowly graced the P.I's lips. The wolf grinned as she faced forward. "That's adorable, Matty, but I'm not kissing you."
Matt's lips once again rose as a deep chuckle left him. He could hear Jessica snort at the comment as well as Luke's hearty laugh. He hadn't lied, he knew that Olivia was aware of that, he meant what he had said; though they had a rather rocky start she was an invaluable member of the team.
She had saved Danny from Sowande, kept the untamable P.I in check, put up one hell of a fight against Elektra. She made jokes, she absolutely roasted him, but he really was glad she was there. She was willing to do whatever it took to save Danny, to save New York.
With a cocky smile, he tilted his head towards the woman. "That's a shame."
"I'm gonna throw you in that hole."
"I'd like to see you try." He smirked as he turned his body to face her, crossing his arms across his chest.
Jessica chuckled, her eyes crinkling at the edges as she listened to the two. "Oh, I wouldn't tempt her." She sucked in a breath as she cleared her throat. "But could the two of you stop flirting because I'm going to throw myself in the hole."
Olivia hummed as the soft smile on her face slowly faded into a smirk. "Want me to push you?"
Luke chuckled alongside Matt. He had missed this; hearing the two women who were so alike, yet so different tease each other like children. He had missed seeing the smiles on their faces and though he wished none of this had to of happened, he smiled. "Okay, be quiet before I push you both in."
The two girls whirled to face him, their faces mirrored one another's, each had a brow raised with an 'Oh really?' look adorning their features. He simply crossed his large arms and rose his own brow. "I said what I said."
"Well..." Jessica reluctantly dragged out after breaking her stare with Luke. "You guys ready?"
